Why we're here

We've all done it at some point. Throughout every person's sports fan career they have muttered four scary words. After calculating the odds, all the associated statistics, and ruling out every other possibility, at one point or another every one of us has come to the conclusion that, simply put, "we must be cursed."

Let's get a little background info for context. I root for the New York Mets, the Minnesota Vikings, and the Maryland Terrapins. Yeah....tough year.

The last team is what did it. What started this whole thing. We all remember this ending to Maryland's 2010 tournament run, right? As I looked around the room at my fellow Maryland fans who were in utter disbelief (one of which from atop a couch), the only answer that popped into my head, the only explanation, was that we had to be cursed.

But then I thought, there are 65 (now 68) teams that get invited to this dance, and only 1 winner. Every losing fan is disappointed (even the Cinderellas, I mean, cinderellas). And it is in the misery of losing that we find the reason why we truly cheer. We care about these teams (sometimes a lot), we associate with them, and, sometimes, you gotta take the good with the bad.

So what can I offer? A haven for those down on their luck, a place to lament, and, most importantly, a reference point for how low you were when you're finally at the top.

So come on in and gripe. Hey, there's always next year.
