WeMustBeCursed's Curse Power Rankings 4/28/10

Check out the new sidebar addition! It's new! It's super cool! It's here to stay.

The goal is to update these "power" rankings once a week, and for these rankings to take on more of a short term perspective. Don't worry, I'll post a blupdate explaining how I could possibly say your teams are cursed coinciding with each weekly update. So! Without further adieu (and sometimes y):

WeMustBeCursed's Curse Power Rankings: 4/28/10

1. New Jersey Devils

Why They're Numero Uno: That makes 3 straight years they've been knocked out in the first round of the playoffs, all three times as a higher seed (the bigger they are...). But as a two seed? This hurts the most. Considering this was posted prior to the Caps game tonight, the Devils are currently this year's highest seed eliminated in the first round. That '03 Stanley Cup is getting further and further away...

2. Baltimore Orioles

Why They're Number Two: The Orioles are usually relatively fast moderate starters to the season. Through April 26th of the past 3 seasons, the Orioles were 34-31. Nothing to write home about, but considering those same seasons they have finished a combined 201-284 on average being 27 games under .500, I think we need to sound the alarms considering they are currently 4-16. Some may say, "Wow your team is awful" "There's always next year" but I say no chance maybe this is a sign that this is finally your year.

3. Buffalo Sabres

Why They're Number Three: A year after shaking off that terrible feeling of being the only team in NHL history to follow winning the President's Trophy with two straight playoff-less seasons, they drop the ball puck in the first round to the six seed. Things could be worse.

4. Washington Capitals

Why They're Number Four: Bet you want game 5 back real bad, huh? As the one seed they're set to play game seven in the opening round. I don't want to be too quick to judge, that's why they're only a 4 seed, but they seriously need to step up on power play opportunities (no reason to smile about that, Jaws).

5. New York Rangers

Why They're Number Five: It definitely has to hurt watching their best friends rock the Devils, as the familiar feeling of "if they could do it we could do it too" nastily sets in. Losing in a shootout the last game of the season in a make or break for the playoffs, especially after giving their fan base hope by winning the first game of the home and home series, that hurts. You all successfully now fall into the Love-Hate Relationship Cursed Fan-base. Hope they don't have TVs on any of the tee boxes.

There it is. Check back next week to see if your team has creeped into the Top 5.
