WMBC LiveBlog for Washington/Montreal Game

8:21 PM EST

Had to do it, had to try out liveblogging. Seeing the Caps down 1-0 in game seven, potentially the 1, 2, and 3 seed losing in the opening round of the NHL playoffs? Had to try it out. Check check out all my live musings. It's too much awesomeness for people to take.

8:23 PM EST

Big power play here for the Caps. Can they break their playoff power play curse?

8:26 PM EST

Still no power play goals (I think they have 1 for the series). They probably read my power rankings post and really wanted to move up. That Ovie is so competitive...

8:28 PM EST

A commercial break (another Caps power play to follow) so a moment to take a breather. My NHL analyst (his blog here) told me an interesting fact today: the Caps seem to love series going to game seven. Those suspense loving guys...

8:30 PM EST

I'd love to know the statistics on number of shots during a power play by period. Do you think a team down shoots more frequently as time expires and is more patient earlier in the game waiting for better shots? Those stats would be tough to find. Elias, anyone?

8:31 PM EST

Another power play, another missed opportunity for the Caps. Awesome power play defense from Montreal.

8:37 PM EST

There goes the 2nd period. Huge power play kill for the Caps to end the period. I think Caps fans will take that power play tradeoff to keep it 1-0. 1 period left.

8:56 PM EST

Dagger to start the period. Still, nice to see some fire on the part of the Caps coming out.

8:59 PM EST

Ovechkin's stick had more velocity than that shot unfortunately. Hey, souvenir for a fan.

9:03 PM EST

The Caps have I believe 20+ more shots on goal than the Habs. Can you imagine this in any other sport? Imagine a 1-0 game in the playoffs of baseball where the leading team got a 2 out solo shot and the trailing team has left 8 people on base. At what point does frustration manifest?

9:10 PM EST

Gotta make that interference call if you called it in the beginning of the period against the Caps. That was way more blatant. Plus I appreciate a goalie who is less of an actor. This isn't the world cup.

9:20 PM EST

When does karma start becoming a reason for being down? You never know what might be the reason for the next curse.

9:27 PM EST

There's something to be said about efficiency (and sloppy defense). With 3:30 left, the Habs may have just locked it up.

9:30 PM EST

Just seconds after the announcer stated that no 8 seed has ever rallied to come back in the playoffs when down 3-1, the Caps have brought it to within one. You may have just cursed my curse conspiracy!

9:33 PM EST

Strategic play on the part of Montreal? If their power play has been stagnant all playoffs, why wouldn't you give the opportunity to the Caps? Ridiculous, ridiculous suggestion, I know. But hey, superstition runs deep in hockey.

9:34 PM EST

That may have been one of the best saves of the night for the Caps and Varly's on the bench.

9:36 PM EST

See? That wasn't THAT crazy of a suggestion. Once again, a stagnant playoff power play offense and associated missed opportunities dooms the 1 seed. I think I may be on to something with this whole curse thing...

That's all she wrote. Live blogging is tough, but fun. I'll try it again when another opportunity to witness the curse presents itself. Over and out.
